Condor Airlines Resumes Direct Flights from Frankfurt to Panama
Starting January 2, 2024, Condor Airlines has officially reactivated its direct route connecting Frankfurt, Germany, to Panama City. This significant development has been announced in collaboration with the National Fund for Tourism Promotion (Promtur), which aims to establish Germany as a key market for the sustainable development of Panama’s tourism sector in line with the national tourism plan for 2020-2026.
Flight Details and Capacity
The newly resumed route will operate twice a week, offering a total of 1,240 seats for passengers. This crucial service is expected to enhance travel options for both leisure and business travelers between Germany and Panama. Moisés Véliz, Director of Strategic Alliances and Travel Commerce at Promtur, emphasized the potential of the German market, noting that the average length of stay for German tourists in Panama is between 15 to 16 days, contributing significantly to the local economy.
Strengthening Connectivity
The return of Condor Airlines marks an important step in strengthening the connectivity between Panama and Europe. With this addition, there are now six airlines operating flights between Europe and Panama, enhancing the nation’s accessibility to international travelers. Although Condor previously operated flights to Panama between 2010 and 2012 with a layover in the Dominican Republic, the service was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Promotional Strategies for German Market
To further bolster commercial relations with Germany, Promtur has announced various promotional strategies aimed at showcasing Panama’s tourist attractions. These initiatives will involve collaboration with wholesale companies and travel agents in Germany, with a particular focus on those promoting biodiversity and sustainability—themes that resonate well with German travelers.
Broader Market Focus for 2025
In addition to strengthening ties with Germany, Promtur has set sights on prioritizing several other markets for the year 2025. These include the United States, Canada, Spain, France, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, and Argentina, as part of a strategic approach to diversify Panama’s tourism footprint.
Enhancing Quality Tourism
Promtur has also highlighted the important role that direct flights play in fostering high-quality tourism. This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand connectivity options and position Panama as a competitive destination in the global tourism market.
As the travel industry continues to recover and adapt in the post-pandemic era, the reactivation of Condor’s direct flights is a positive indicator of Panama’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its tourism sector while promoting sustainable travel practices.
